Classic patterns, knotted just like a hundred years ago

Medallions, herati and boteh from Anatolia and Persia, knotted on a wooden loom using wool from a single flock. The patterns are not on paper: the weaver knows them by heart, which is why no two rugs are the same.

The colors come from vegetable dyes—madder, pomegranate peel, indigo—and soften with the years instead of fading.

About the patterns

Why no two Heritage rugs are the same

A weaver works without a pattern. He knows the design from his master and recreates it, knot by knot, with the freedom that entails. A medallion might be a few centimeters off-center, or a border might run slightly wider on one side than the other.

The same applies to the color. Wool from a single dye bath is never exactly the same tone, and in a finished rug, you can see this as bands that run slightly lighter or darker — known in the trade as abrash. This is not a flaw to be tolerated, but a sign that no machine was involved in the process.

See it in the daylight first.

Plant-based colours change with the light in the room. Lay them side by side on the floor in the showroom — for an hour, completely without obligation.
